More about: 10 Things to do in Benidorm with Kids

The Costa Blanca is a tourist destination with a wealth of natural attractions. In turn, the most visited city in this famous Spanish region is also a great place for the whole family. That's why many of the best things to do in Benidorm are suitable for groups travelling with children.

So, I recommend that you continue reading this post if you want to get a more specific and accurate idea of the type of plans and activities you could enjoy with children during a visit to the city of skyscrapers on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. This will be very useful for finalising your logistical planning as well as organising your budget.

1. A visit to the Aqualandia water park

Water parks are a typical attraction in tourist cities, and if you are thinking about the best water parks in this city, then Aqualandia will always be the answer. This is due to its significant size as well as the quality of its attractions.

The park has different pools, relaxation areas, several slides for all heights and sizes, and entertainment areas for children to get their adrenaline pumping. Keep in mind that there is also a wide variety of food options, and access to changing rooms, medical assistance, and parking are included in the entrance fee.

For many tourists who visit Benidorm every summer, this is the best water park in Spain, while others consider it a fairly modest but entertaining place. Either way, it is one of the best water parks in Benidorm and a place you cannot miss if you are thinking of travelling to the city with children.

Details of interest:

  • Price: admission costs approximately €40 for adults, and children between the ages of 4 and 12 usually pay a more affordable rate with a discount of around 20%.
  • Opening hours: bear in mind that this park is only open during the summer season. That is, from mid-May to early October, when it is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The rest of the year it may be open on weekends.

2. A jet ski ride around Benidorm Bay

A jet ski ride along one of the beaches of the famous Benidorm Bay is highly recommended if you want to share an entertaining moment and a bit of extreme fun with your children, siblings or nieces and nephews. These types of rides usually depart from both Levante Beach and Poniente Beach and are relatively short tours of the bay.

Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful landscape full of skyscrapers as well as the beautiful cliffs of the Sierra Helada that open up at the northern end of the city. It is also common on this type of jet ski tour to visit the small and famous island of Benidorm, and if you try hard, you can see iconic places in the city such as the Balcón del Mediterráneo (Mediterranean Balcony) or the hill in Benidorm's old town.

Keep in mind that this is a safe and entertaining activity to do with children of all ages as long as they can hold on to the jet ski's handles. However, if you are looking for a more comprehensive, family-friendly activity that everyone can participate in at the same time, then it is preferable to opt for a boat trip around Benidorm.

Details of interest:

  • Price: there is a single rate regardless of the age or height of the participants, and the average price for jet ski hire is usually around €110.
  • Duration: these types of trips usually last approximately 30 minutes.

3. An afternoon exploring the Terra Mítica theme park

Theme parks are successful in many cities around the world, and in a city like Benidorm, which receives so many tourists throughout the year, it makes sense that there should be at least one that is a benchmark for quality and enjoyment. This is Terra Mítica, and it is undoubtedly a place you should visit if you are thinking of plans to enjoy with children during a short or long holiday in Benidorm.

The theme of this place is based on a rather original idea. It is an amusement park where the attractions are directly inspired by ancient Western societies. The Colosseum, the Acropolis of Athens and a lake inspired by Egypt are just some of the attractions that accompany roller coasters and elevation games. There are also lots of live shows that will make you feel as if you were living in ancient times.

I can assure you that this is one of the best activities to do with children in this city. Although it's a plan that can take up your whole afternoon, it still leaves you with a good part of the day free to enjoy the best things to do in Benidorm at night.

Details of interest:

  • Price: an adult ticket for this fun park usually costs around €40 per person, while children between the ages of 4 and 12 usually pay a lower price with a 30% discount.
  • Opening hours: the opening hours of this park are similar to many other attractions in Benidorm. It is only open all week during the late spring and early autumn months. The rest of the year it is usually open at weekends. It is usually open from 10 am to 8 pm.

4. Enjoy a fast ride on a banana boat

A banana boat is a fairly representative image of summer fun, and this type of activity is a good plan to share with the family. As you can imagine, it is one of those activities to see or do in Benidorm if you are travelling with children. Especially for those who are looking for extreme thrills, and if this is your case, you will probably be interested to know that this is a safe and appropriate plan for that.

Bear in mind that you will be sharing the experience with a group of between five and ten participants. It is also worth noting that in some cases it is recommended or required that only children over the age of seven or eight participate . As with all other water activities in this city, you can rest assured that the service includes the life jacket and helmet you will need to safeguard your physical integrity and that of your children.

Throughout the summer, these types of rides, where you have to hold on with all your strength to avoid falling off the banana boat, are one of the best things to do in Benidorm. That's why it's common to see more than one group participating in these types of tours when visiting any of the city's beaches.

Details of interest:

  • Price: the average price for a banana boat ride is usually around €38 per person. The age of the participant does not affect the price of the service.
  • Duration: these types of tours usually last between 10 and 15 minutes, which is more than enough time to enjoy the experience to the fullest.

5. A bike ride along the roads of Benidorm

A sporting activity can also be a good thing to do with children during a trip to Benidorm, especially if your family is used to this type of activity. If this is the case, I highly recommend a bike ride on one of the roads near this beautiful coastal city in the Valencian Community.

Bear in mind that many of these rides are quite demanding, as they choose routes that would take you approximately 40 km. There are shorter options that may be recommended, although a plan like this is very interesting for families who regularly cycle with their children.

The most common option is that the price of the tour includes the services of a specialised guide as well as bicycle hire and all safety equipment. This is one of the best activities to do in Benidorm in December because the temperature is favourable enough to make the tour a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.

As you can imagine, it is important that children are able to control a road bike, which is why this activity is usually only open to those over the age of eight.

Details of interest:

  • Price: the usual rate for this type of cycling experience is around €40 per person. However, children between the ages of 8 and 15 may pay a little less.
  • Duration: the length of the tour depends on the route, but it is common for some to last more than five hours in total.

6. A kayaking and snorkelling excursion in Jávea

As this is a Costa Blanca destination, it is logical that many of the activities suitable for children are related to the beach and enjoying the sea. For this very reason, an excursion that includes a kayak trip and a snorkelling session to the neighbouring community of Jávea is one of the best things to do for those travelling to Benidorm with children.

With this type of plan, you can expect to be accompanied by a guide and provided with all the equipment you need to enjoy the activities. Kayaking activities in Benidorm and the surrounding area are usually reserved for La Granadella Beach because of the clarity and tranquillity of its waters and its proximity to the cliffs of Jávea.

The return trip from Benidorm is also usually included, although there is usually a meeting point that is accessible to all participants.

Details of interest:

  • Price: the price of an experience like this is approximately €45 per person. Children under 18 usually pay a lower rate.
  • Duration: the kayak trip and snorkelling session usually lasts around two hours. Added to this is the transfer from Benidorm, which is sometimes not included in the service.

7. A visit to most of the city's beaches

If your little ones are so eager to enjoy the beach and play in the sea that they can't wait for a road trip to another area, then you should start exploring the different beaches within Benidorm. Levante and Poniente are the two most famous for their large size, but there are also other nearby coves that might catch your attention if you arrive early enough to get a spot.

You should also know that a family visit to the beach is one of the best things to do in Benidorm in September. This is because the number of tourists decreases dramatically during this summer month, allowing for a much more peaceful enjoyment of the public space.

8. Meet the animals at Mundomar

Mundomar is a theme park with a wide variety of exotic marine animals, located right next to the Aqualandia water park. If you decide to visit, you will encounter truly impressive creatures such as sea lions, bottlenose dolphins and penguins.

Bear in mind that this is one of the best things to do with children in Benidorm in October, as the number of tourists will have dropped to such an extent that you won't have to queue to enjoy the attractions and events available in this small but entertaining park.

Useful information:

  • Price: adult tickets for Mundomar usually cost around €31, while children usually pay around €25.
  • Opening hours: Mundomar is a theme park that remains open all year round. If you wish to visit outside of the summer season, you can do so on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

9. You can also discover the fauna and flora of Terranatura

Given that Benidorm is a very important tourist destination during the summer, it makes sense that there are other parks that are worth visiting with the family, especially when travelling with young children. Terra Natura and Aquanatura are two of them. The former is basically an immersion park where visitors have the opportunity to get quite close to the habitat where a large number of animals live on a daily basis.

This park is home to species from three continents, including lions, tigers, elephants, rhinos, jaguars, crocodiles and many other large herbivores and farm animals. Aquanatura is another sister park designed for children's entertainment in the style of a water park.

Both sites can be part of a two-day trip to Benidorm if finding children's entertainment options is a priority for you.

Details of interest:

  • Price: you can buy a combined ticket for both parks for approximately £35 per adult and £25 per child under 12.
  • Opening hours: this park is also usually open during the high tourist season, i.e. from mid-May to mid-October. The rest of the year it is only open at weekends.

10. A play session at La Aigüera Park

This famous, centrally located park in the city of Benidorm is an excellent alternative if you are looking for a safe and comfortable space where your children can run freely and have fun like the little kids they are, seeking freedom during their holidays.

Its strategic location makes it easily accessible via Benidorm's Hop On Hop Off buses. Some important sites, such as the town hall and the famous Plaza Triangular, are just a few metres away.

Admission is free, and it's a good idea to include it in your city tour if you want to alternate with an activity that is also interesting for the little ones.
