Step by Step

With these tickets to the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, you’ll be able to discover one of Tasmania’s most fascinating wildlife conservation centres. More than just a wildlife park, Bonorong is actively involved in the rescue, rehabilitation and protection of wildlife, so your visit also helps to support this work.

During the tour, you’ll be able to see some of the most iconic species of Australia and Tasmania, such as Tasmanian devils, wombats, kangaroos, echidnas, quolls, possums, cockatoos and blue-tongued skinks. As this is a sanctuary, the animals on display vary depending on which ones are housed there at any given time.

Your ticket also includes one of the talks or public tours led by carers, which take place several times a day. During this activity, you’ll get to know some of the resident animals better, discover the threats affecting Tasmania’s wildlife and learn what measures can help protect it.

One of the most enjoyable parts of the visit is being able to hand-feed the Forester wallabies using the bag of food included with your ticket. You can explore the sanctuary at your own pace before or after the guided tour, pop into the wildlife hospital and enjoy a peaceful day surrounded by nature.

An interesting and peaceful place, although it is advisable to manage your expectations as some animals may not be visible at all times.

I enjoyed the freedom to explore the grounds after the guided tour with the rangers. We were able to stop wherever we wanted.

We went mainly to see Tasmanian devils and ended up taking an interest in all the animals. A very comprehensive visit.

The kangaroos were brilliant, but I particularly enjoyed the explanations about the native animals. Very entertaining.
