This day trip from San Ignacio to Xunantunich is perfect if you are looking to delve into the history of this Mayan city. Your day will start with a comfortable pick-up and drop-off at your hotel in San Ignacio and continue to the archaeological site of Xunantunich.

Upon arrival, and in small groups of about 16 people, you will have the opportunity to explore the ancient structures and learn about the fascinating history of this civilisation. Your expert guide will take you through the temples and plazas, telling you stories and legends about life in the ancient Mayan city .

Throughout the day you will climb to the top of the main pyramid, from where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding jungle. After exploring Xunantunich, the excursion will continue to a wonderful cave full of stalactite and stalagmite formations. You will descend into the cave with the help of your guide, who will take you through the different rooms and show you the most impressive formations. You will be able to admire the beauty of the cave and also learn about its importance in the Mayan culture.

As well as exploring a Mayan underworld, you can also enjoy a fun tubing adventure. You will be provided with all the tubing equipment and life jackets before you start the activity.

The excursion to Xunantunich was great, we saw ancient things and had a great time. I didn't know there were such cool things in Belize.

Not recommended for pregnant women, people with back problems and travellers with heart conditions or other serious medical problems.
Travellers should be in average physical condition.
All participants must be one metre tall or taller to participate in the tour.
The child rate only applies when the child shares the activity with 2 adults paying the full rate.
