Step by Step

Your evening starts with hotel pick-up and a short transfer to the No Limits Adventure base. There the team provides helmets, goggles and protective overalls, offers water and explains in detail how to operate the automatic buggy and the rules of driving in the dunes.

Once on the road, the first few metres are spent on tarmac until you leave the city lights behind. As we enter the Viana Desert, the engine roars softly as the wheels make furrows in the silky sand. Away from the light pollution, the Milky Way reveals itself clearly and the guide points out constellations that Cape Verdean fishermen have used for centuries.

The convoy takes the Via Pitoresca, a track that winds through cactus and acacia trees to the white chapel of Fatima. Here the engine stops: lanterns illuminate the façade and the Atlantic can be heard as a whisper in the background. This is the ideal moment to take long exposure photographs or simply enjoy the silence of the desert at night.

On the way back, the buggies descend lightly down the sandy slopes, casting shadows that dance with every turn. In the distance, the lights of Sal Rei can be glimpsed; the salty breeze announces the end of the journey. At the base, a quick shake of dust, a farewell to the equipment and a comfortable transfer to the hotel crown an experience that mixes adventure, astronomy and otherworldly landscapes.
