Step by Step
Buying a ticket for the Conservation Park guarantees access to a large enclosure that is home to endangered animals, species undergoing rehabilitation and those confiscated from private individuals.
The park is divided into three zones and is home to monkeys, big cats, birds, reptiles and other animals. It also houses less common species, which can be admired at close quarters:
- Coati: a mammal from the raccoon family, recognisable by its thick, striped tail, similar to that of a lemur.
- Marmoset: the world’s smallest monkey, so small it fits in the palm of your hand.
- Jaguarundi: also known as the ‘moro cat’ or ‘little lion’, it is related to the puma but is less well-known and smaller in size.
- Chicken-eating iguana: a species of iguana with yellowish or olive-coloured skin, featuring black transverse stripes.
- Double-horned hornbill: a yellow, black and white bird with a distinctive curved beak that also covers its head. It lives in the tropical forests of South Asia
Before it was called the Conservation Park, it was known as the Santa Fe Zoo. The transformation was not limited to the name; it also brought about improvements in animal welfare and raised awareness of biodiversity.
