Step by Step

The adventure begins in the comfort of a private transfer to the Giza plateau, where your guide will outline the historical context of the 4th Dynasty and the rituals of passage to the afterlife. In front of the Great Pyramid of Cheops, you will learn about the methods of construction with limestone blocks that are still debated today. A short walk leads to the pyramids of Chephren and Mykerinos, guardians of the Nubian skyline for more than 4 500 years.

Next, a stop at the desert lookout allows you to capture the classic postcard of the three pyramids lined up in a row. Here, those who wish can add a camel ride (for hire on site). The guide offers tips on how to get the best photo with the sun gilding the sand and the pyramid outlines.

The tour continues to the Valley Temple of Chephren, where royal embalming took place, and culminates in front of the imposing Sphinx, carved from a single block of limestone. Its face, attributed to Pharaoh Khafre, and its lion-like body symbolise eternal power and wisdom. With the guide's explanation, you will understand the enigmas surrounding its lost nose and the myths that have made it the subject of millenary legends.

After a last look at the architectural complex, you will return to the hotel with your memory full of stories about pharaohs, gods and ancient mathematics. A journey through time that fits into a morning or afternoon, leaving the rest of the day free to continue exploring Cairo.
