Step by Step

Explore the most mysterious and terrifying side of Paris by joining this two-hour night-time ghost tour, in small groups of up to 20 people.

A professional guide will recount the most popular myths and legends of the French capital, a historic city where countless massacres, executions and armed struggles for power have taken place.

You’ll have the chance to explore on foot sites steeped in history, many of which are little known to tourists:

  • La Conciergerie: also known as the Palais de la Cité. This historic building served as a prison during the French Revolution and was where Queen Marie Antoinette spent her final days before being beheaded in the Place de la Concorde.
  • Place du Vert-Galant: although it is now a beautiful, leafy green space, designated an ecological zone, in 1314 it was the scene where Jacques de Molay, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, was burnt at the stake
  • Saint-Germain-l’Auxerrois Church: this enigmatic Gothic-style church was at the heart of the conflict that triggered the St Bartholomew’s Day Massacre, in which thousands of French Protestants were killed
  • Île de la Cité: this area is considered Paris’s first neighbourhood, where the Parisii tribes settled before going on to found the city. Within its boundaries lie the Conciergerie and the Palais de Justice
  • Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville: in the 14th century, this square was the epicentre of public executions, which were mainly carried out on those accused of heresy

By visiting these monuments , you can explore the most controversial and unsettling side of the ‘City of Light’, which has a past as glorious as it is tragic that will never cease to amaze you.

I think a little more time would be a good idea. I found the whole thing too short, you lose depth! Great guide and organisation!
