Step by Step

The Frankfurt Card is designed for those who wish to explore the city without having to buy separate transport tickets. Once you have received it, you can use it straight away in digital format and travel on the RMV network within the covered zones.

The transport included covers the S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams, buses, night buses and certain regional trains, as well as the journey between the city centre and Frankfurt Airport. The card is valid in zones 50 and 5090.

The other major benefit is the discounts. Many museums offer significant reductions, including the Archaeological Museum, the Jewish Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, Goethe’s House, the Frankfurt History Museum and the Museum of Communication. At other venues, such as the Städel Museum, the Senckenberg Museum and the Schirn Kunsthalle, a reduced admission fee applies.

There are also benefits outside the museums. For example, you can get discounts at the MAIN TOWER, Palmengarten, TimeRide, Frankfurt Zoo, walking tours, the hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus and certain cruises on the River Main.

Discounts are also available at theatres and cultural venues, including the Alte Oper, the Frankfurt Opera, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Papageno Musiktheater and The English Theatre. The exact percentage depends on each venue and the terms of the discount.

It’s very handy for improvising your day and moving between areas without having to think about how much each journey costs.

At one of the museums, the discount wasn’t quite what we’d expected given the terms of the ticket price, but overall we found it useful.

The fact that it was valid until five o’clock the following morning suited us fine because we started quite early.
