Step by Step

With this 24-hour sightseeing bus pass you'll get to know the highlights of Kiel without stress, combining comfort and context. The hop-on hop-off system allows you to design your own tour of the city: hop off at points of interest such as Schwedenkai, the maritime museum at Ostseekai, the Wik district or the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal observation deck, and hop back on when you're ready to continue. A complete tour takes approximately 65 minutes and departures from stop 1 occur every 105 minutes according to the seasonal calendar.

The experience is enriched by live guides who tell stories and trivia in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, or you can opt for the audio guide in a range of languages if you prefer to listen at your own pace - the narration includes facts about Kiel's ports, architecture and naval and industrial importance. On some buses you'll be given headphones to follow the narration.

During the high season months (3 June to 28 August) there are more frequent departures, including weekends with multiple times from the main stop; outside that time there are also daily routes but with shorter schedules. This means you can plan an intense morning, a relaxing afternoon on foot in Kiellinie or combine it with museum visits and walks by the sea.

Hop off at Holtenau for a close-up view of the canal, stroll through the waterfront district and walk along the promenade by the water, or stop at the university and Rankestrabe for a different perspective of the city. Each stop is an opportunity to connect with the naval and coastal history of Kiel, which has been a hub of maritime activity in the Baltic for centuries.

If you're short on time, a single tour gives you a quick overview; if you stay for a full day, you can use the pass to return to the places that interested you most and delve deeper without paying extra.

Highly recommended for orientation in the city. Audio in Swedish is perfect. A bit expensive, but worth it.
