Step by Step

Set off from Munich and discover Berchtesgaden on this one-day excursion, lasting around 10 hours in total. The distance between these two towns is about 150 km, but you won’t need to worry about this, as all transfers are included in an air-conditioned vehicle.

Throughout the experience, you’ll be accompanied by a tour guide to whom you can direct any questions you may have. One of the highlights of the excursion is a visit to the Eagle’s Nest. This is a mountain retreat situated on the summit of a large mountain that Adolf Hitler used to relax.

This excursion includes a tour of the interior, where you’ll learn all sorts of stories. You’ll hear about the weddings, conferences and meetings that took place there, as well as all the dignitaries who visited it.

You’ll walk through all its rooms, including the huge terrace with spectacular views, as the mountain retreat is situated at an altitude of 2,000 metres. The ascent is via a lift, included in the tour, so you won’t have to walk up the mountain. Furthermore, if bad weather prevents access to the Eagle’s Nest, the visit will be replaced by a tour of the Berchtesgaden salt mines.

During the excursion, you’ll also have time to visit the town of Berchtesgaden. This means you can choose whichever restaurant you like best for lunch at your own expense.

Germany has a lot of very interesting places, especially because of all the history behind them. This tour was no exception and we learned things I had never imagined. I recommend it without hesitation.
