Step by Step

Step back in time to the heart of the ancient world with a 1-2 hour tour of the site of Delphi and its modern museum. Your licensed guide will meet you at the entrance to the Archaeological Museum, where you will begin to walk along the same paths that priests and kings walked to consult the Oracle of Apollo.

On your tour of the Acropolis of Delphi, you will walk along wide terraces carved into the slopes of Mount Parnassus. There you will see the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, the place from which the Oracle pronounced his famous prophecies; the Tholos of the Sibyls and the treasuries of the Greek cities, which competed to show off their wealth.

You will then descend to the Theatre, where sacred hymns were performed during the Pythian Games, and the Castalia Fountain, whose waters purified visitors. At every step your lively guide will narrate anecdotes of myths, ceremonies and battles that give meaning to these ancient stones.

The tour continues at the Archaeological Museum, a luminous building housing artefacts from 1500 BC to Roman times. Admire the iconic Sphinx of Naxos, the twin Kuros and the perfection of the Auriga Bronze, while receiving detailed explanations about their finding and preservation.

Before concluding, your guide will answer all your questions and suggest additional routes or activities in and around Delphi. This private experience is ideal for families, couples or groups of friends looking for total immersion in Greek history and archaeology.
