Step by Step
Lindos, on the island of Rhodes, is home to one of the best-preserved acropolis in Greece, in use since the Bronze Age. When you show your ticket at the ticket office, you will enter directly into a site steeped in history, with the remains of walls, temples and defensive structures carved into the rock.
The Digital Guide to Hellenic Heritage will explain the origin of each building and its evolution over the centuries, with texts, photographs and interactive maps accessible on your mobile device. This way you can delve into details that would go unnoticed without an expert guide.
The Doric Temple of Athena Lindia, erected in 300 BC, is the heart of the site. Surrounded by weathered columns and altars, it offers a direct testimony to the devotion to the patron goddess of the city and a privileged viewpoint over the village and the sea.
You will climb up a steep stone path that climbs 116 metres, passing Byzantine remains and cisterns. The climb is rewarded with postcard views: the hamlet of Lindos, the golden sandy beach and the intense blue of the Mediterranean Sea.
After the visit, you can stop at the ruins to appreciate the surroundings and photograph every angle before calmly descending, following your digital guide who will show you the best route down.
