Step by Step
Live a unique experience on Mount Vesuvius, one of the most iconic volcanoes in the world, protagonist of the tragic eruption that buried Pompeii and Herculaneum in 79 AD. With this skip-the-line ticket, you will have direct access to the Vesuvius National Park and you will be able to explore its volcanic paths without waiting.
Thanks to the included digital audio guide, you will get detailed information about the volcano, its geological history and the most famous eruptions. As you walk among ancient volcanic rocks and panoramic views of the Gulf of Naples, you will discover the fascinating relationship between nature and human history in this unique place.
You will be able to climb up to the edge of the active crater and contemplate the steam that still emanates from its cracks. The moderately difficult hike offers breathtaking visual rewards: lunar landscapes, sea views and a direct connection to the forces of the Earth.
The audio guide is available in four languages, allowing you to follow along and learn at your own pace. Just make sure you download all the content onto your device beforehand, as there is no WiFi or good mobile coverage in the area.
This activity is perfect for independent travellers and nature lovers who want to discover for themselves one of the most extraordinary places in Italy.
To get to the entrance of the Vesuvius National Park - Rifugio Imbò, located at an altitude of about 1170 metres - you can choose to take the following options:
- Bus - The EAV Napoli - Vesuvius line connects the city with the starting point of the walking route. It is possible to take it from Piazza Garibaldi (central train station) or from Piazza Piedigrotta, stop Quota 1000.
- Vesuvio Express - Private bus connecting the volcano with the town of Herculaneum. Buses leave approximately every 40 minutes from the Campania town train station.
- Car - From Herculaneum, you can reach your destination by following Via Cupa Monti and then Via Vesuvio. To reach Herculaneum, simply take the A3 Salerno - Reggio Calabria motorway and take the "Ercolano" exit.
