The Vatican opens its doors to tourists so they can enjoy its architecture and history by night. If you want to experience one of the most famous monuments in a different way, this tour is a must on your itinerary.

Throughout the tour, you’ll be accompanied by an expert guide who’ll tell you about the city’s art and architecture.

Booking in advance not only saves you from long queues for tickets but also allows you to explore the Gallery of Maps, a space built in the 16th century housing painted topographical maps. You’ll also visit the St Raphael Rooms, four chambers featuring Renaissance paintings.

Finally, a visit to the Sistine Chapel – one of the world’s most important artistic and religious monuments – is an absolute must. It is here that the Church’s most senior representatives gather to elect a new Pope. You’ll also be able to see ‘The Creation of Adam’, one of the most significant frescoes in the history of art, painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512.
