Step by Step

Avoid the long queues at the ticket office and gain immediate access to Venice’s tallest monument with these tickets for St Mark’s Bell Tower, also known as the Campanile. Standing at almost 100 metres tall, this former lighthouse, converted into a bell tower, offers one of the most breathtaking views of the entire city.

Located right in the heart of St Mark’s Square, the bell tower is one of Venice’s most recognisable landmarks. From its summit, which is easily accessed by lift, you can enjoy a 360° panoramic view over the Venetian rooftops, the canals, the nearby islands and, on the clearest days, even the Alps in the distance.

At the top, you’ll see the five original bells (reproduced following the tower’s reconstruction), as well as a gilded figure of the Archangel Gabriel crowning the spire. As well as being an excellent vantage point, the Campanile also has a fascinating history: it was originally built in the 12th century, collapsed in 1902 and was faithfully rebuilt in 1912.

It’s a short but unmissable visit if you want to see the city from a different perspective, as you’ll also have access to a digital audio guide that will tell you all about the most interesting details of the building and other parts of Rome.

An experience to remember. Bring a hat and water if it's sunny. I was quite surprised by the wind at the top.

I loved seeing Venice from high up, but at midday there was a lot of direct sun and it was a bit difficult to see the lagoon.

Seeing the lagoon, canals and rooftops from above was something special. I recommend right at opening for less crowding.
