Step by Step
The day starts at around 09:00 h at the Lion Square of the Mitsukoshi Department Store in Fukuoka. Your guide will be waiting for you with a sign with your name on it, ready to escort you to Nishitetsu-Tenjin Station.
After a short train ride (≈ 50 min), you will arrive at Nishitetsu-Yanagawa Station, the departure point for the authentic Yanagawa Canal Cruise. You will board the official Suigo Yanagawa Kanko boat, where the boatman, dressed in traditional costume, will sing Japanese melodies and share stories about the village of a thousand bridges.
Upon arrival at the Kamenoi Yanagawa Hotel, you will be treated to a unagi don-a succulent portion of rice topped with grilled eel-included in your tour. For about an hour, you'll enjoy this local speciality in a refined atmosphere.
With your stomach full, you will walk with your guide through the picturesque streets of Yanagawa for 1h 20 min, admiring the small temples, stone bridges and less crowded canals, discovering corners that only the locals know about.
At 14:40 you will take the train back to Fukuoka, ending your tour at Lion Square, where you will have experienced an unforgettable day of water, history and gastronomy.
