Step by Step

The Orizuru Tower pays homage to Hiroshima's past, present and future. Its name comes from the "Orizuru" (paper crane), an origami that today symbolises world peace. Here, each folded crane represents a wish for hope after the devastating atomic bombing.

Climbing up to the open-air observatory on the 13th floor, you will have an unparalleled view of the city: below your feet you will see the iconic Atomic Bomb Dome, and in the background, the sacred island of Miyajima emerges. This viewpoint allows you to feel up close the strength of the people who rebuilt Hiroshima.

At Orizuru Square, interact with digital exhibits that recreate stories of the city. The Orizuru Mural, composed of thousands of paper cranes, invites you to add your folding to this tapestry of wishes for peace. Follow the step-by-step instructions (available in several languages via the official app) to fold your own crane and add it to the mural.

In addition, the space hosts an origami workshop where you will learn the traditional techniques: folding, hanging and praying for a peaceful world. Various multimedia contents complete your personal experience, connecting tradition with technology.

The Orizuru Tower is more than a viewpoint: it is an emotional journey that brings you closer to the history and hope of Hiroshima, through a symbol that transcends borders.
