Step by Step
You will set off from the picturesque village of Virpazar, first crossing a narrow canal lined with reeds, water lilies and abundant birdlife. Your guide, who is also the captain of the boat, will tell you about the origins of the Lesendro fortress, built in the 18th century to defend against Ottoman raids, now accessible by passing under the bridge on the Podgorica-Bar road.
As you enter the wider stretch of the lake, you'll cross the famous bird reserve, home to storks, herons and grebes. You can use your binoculars and consult the bird and lake books to identify them while learning fun facts from your guide.
The next stage will take you to the large and small islands of Čakovica, where you will anchor for a refreshing wild swim. Dive into the waters and float surrounded by a landscape almost untouched by man. After your dip, you will resume your navigation along the Morača River before returning to the starting point in Virpazar.
This group tour - with a maximum of 15 travellers - is ideal for those who want a balance of activity and relaxation, combining history, nature and a touch of adventure in one of the most beautiful areas of Montenegro.
