Step by Step
Discover the flavours of Peru in this private Peruvian cooking class in Arequipa, a 3-hour experience that combines history, tradition and professional culinary technique. Guided by an experienced chef, you will learn how to prepare step by step the most emblematic dishes of Peruvian gastronomy in a cosy and fully equipped environment.
The experience begins in the Los Portales de Cayma cooking studio, just a few minutes from the historic centre. There you will learn about the country's most representative ingredients and their importance in Peruvian culture, from the citrus fruits of ceviche to the exotic fruits of the Andes.
During the class, you will prepare a full menu with a final tasting, which usually includes dishes such as causa rellena and passion fruit sour, traditional pisco sour, ceviche and local fruits.
The chef will teach you presentation techniques, flavour balance and ingredient trivia, so you can replicate the dishes at home. Vegetarian options are also available, substituting sweet cucumber for fish or mushrooms for meat.
At the end, you'll share a table with the group as you enjoy the dishes you've cooked, accompanied by a freshly made pisco sour, in a relaxed atmosphere full of Peruvian hospitality. A perfect experience for curious travellers, food lovers and those who want to learn about the local culture from the palate.
