Step by Step
If you’re looking for an experience to sample Portugal’s finest wines, this is your chance. From Lisbon, you’ll spend a day in Arrábida and Sesimbra, some 40 kilometres from the Portuguese capital, to sample these famous wines. On a tour lasting approximately 8 hours and in groups of around 20 people, a local guide will accompany you to explain everything you need to know about the local wine.
On this tour, you’ll visit a family-run wine estate at Quinta do Alcube to see first-hand how wine is made and then sample the wines straight from the cellar. You’ll taste at least four wines, leaving your palate wanting more.
From Quinta do Alcube, you’ll have the chance not only to admire the stunning Arrábida Natural Park but also to visit the grounds of Pamela Castle, where you can take some memorable photos.
The remaining two wine tastings will take place at Casa Museu Jose Maria da Fonseca, one of Portugal’s oldest wineries and the first in the country to obtain sustainability certification. From there, you can visit the fishing village of Sesimbra, a favourite spot amongst the locals.
From this village, you’ll be within easy reach of the Cristo Rey sanctuary, inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, where you can snap a few photos and marvel at the views over the whole of Lisbon before heading back to the city.
Reviews
- DD.I didn't know there was a Christ the King in Portugal. One of my favourite countries is Brazil and it is very interesting to learn about the similarities and differences between the two cultures. Also, the guide's accompaniment and knowledge made the experience even better.
- CC.Sesimbra is a very nice and pleasant little town to walk around with your family, friends or partner.
- EE.Places are very well maintained and organised.
- ÃÃ.A different experience, to get out of the routine, with a very specialised and professional team.
