Step by Step

Enjoy a stunning and monumental view of Porto on this 6-bridges cruise along the River Douro. You’ll enjoy a boat trip lasting approximately 50 minutes, sailing along the calm waters of one of Portugal’s most important rivers, which runs through the Iberian Peninsula.

During the tour, you’ll sail between two Portuguese cities. On one bank you’ll see Porto, with its characteristic Ribeira district, whilst on the other you’ll catch a glimpse of Vila Nova de Gaia. It’s an ideal experience to share with family, friends or as a couple.

You’ll pass beneath six of the city’s architectural gems – a series of unmissable monuments, each with its own unique design and features:

  • Luís I Bridge: its imposing iron arch stands out from a distance, making it one of Porto’s most iconic bridges, measuring 395 metres long by eight metres wide.
  • Arrábida Bridge: it connects Campo Alegre, in Porto, with the Arrábida area in Vila Nova de Gaia. Of all the bridges, it is the closest to the Atlantic.
  • Maria Pía Bridge: the oldest of them all, it was built by Gustave Eiffel and opened in 1877. It rises some 61 metres above the River Douro.
  • São João Bridge: connects Porto with the south via a modern railway system. It is notable for its enormous central arch, which is 250 metres long.
  • Freixo Bridge: at both ends, the Freixo Bridge links an area near the Estádio do Dragão with the town of Oliveira do Douro.
  • Infante Bridge: built in honour of the explorer Henry the Navigator. It features a 280-metre concrete arch and stands 72 metres high.

During the cruise, you’ll be able to enjoy some of Portugal’s most iconic landscapes from the banks of the Douro, with panoramic views of Porto and its surroundings. You’ll also have access to an audio guide that works via a QR code, which you can scan with your mobile phone during the trip to learn about the history of the bridges and monuments you’ll pass by.

Just being on the water and seeing the city from that point of view and learning about the history of the bridges and their importance to the city was fantastic.
