Experience Highlights

Get around Sintra in comfort with this 24-hour tourist bus ticket, which allows you to use routes 434 and 435 to reach some of the area’s most important castles and palaces.

It’s simple to use: you can hop on and off the buses as many times as you need during the ticket’s validity period, using each route depending on the sights you wish to visit. Route 434 mainly serves the Pena Palace and the Castelo dos Mouros, whilst route 435 connects to places such as Quinta da Regaleira and Monserrate Palace.

The ticket does not include admission to the monuments, so you’ll need to buy separate tickets if you wish to visit them. The best approach is to plan your day around the places you want to visit and use each route as a link between the station, the centre of Sintra and the main attractions.

  • Use lines 434 and 435 for 24 hours
  • Hop on and off as you please to visit Sintra’s palaces and castles
  • Easily reach places such as the Pena Palace, Castelo dos Mouros, Quinta da Regaleira and Monserrate

What’s included

Step by Step

Some are situated in elevated areas. This ticket makes it easier to travel between the station, the historic centre and the main palaces without having to organise each journey separately.

Line 434 is the one to bear in mind if you want to visit the Pena Palace and the Castelo dos Mouros. It departs from the station and heads up the mountain, passing through Sintra Vila and São Pedro de Sintra before reaching these two major landmarks of the city.

Line 435, on the other hand, is designed to connect the station and the town centre with other monuments situated further west. Notable stops include Quinta da Regaleira, the Palace of Seteais and the Palace of Monserrate, as well as Colares and Montes Santos.

As the ticket is a hop-on hop-off type, you can alight at whichever stop interests you, visit the attraction, and then continue on the next available bus. This allows you to create your own itinerary rather than follow a fixed route.

The main difference between the two routes therefore lies in the sights they serve: the 434 focuses on Pena and Mouros, whilst the 435 is the best option for Regaleira, Seteais and Monserrate.

We used it for most of the day and it gave us plenty of freedom to change our plans on the fly.

It doesn’t include admission fees, and you’ll need to plan carefully if you’re visiting lots of palaces. That said, it works very well.
