Step by Step

You will start your adventure at the Hermanus Tourist Office, where your guide will welcome you and hand out a map of the route. From there, you'll wander through the town centre, admiring the coastal architecture and hearing stories about the evolution of this former fishing village.

The second leg will take you to the Hermanus Waterfront, known as the 'heart of Hermanus', where you will discover the transition from the old fishing village to the bustling tourist centre. Here you will enjoy your first tasting: a bite of local pastries accompanied by a coffee with a unique twist.

After a 30-minute walk, you'll reach the cliff path, one of South Africa's most spectacular coastal walks. As you walk, you'll have panoramic views of the ocean and, if in season (July-November), you'll be able to spot whales from the cliffs. Your guide will show you the best spots for photography and share facts about the marine wildlife.

The tour continues next to the Old Harbour Museum, where you'll enjoy local seafood: perlemoen (abalone) and other delicacies. Next, you'll visit Gearings Point, another whale watching and social gathering area, while sipping wine from the nearby Hemel & Aarde Valley.

To close, you'll wander into a family-run establishment to sample artisan ice cream, with flavours inspired by the region. Here, amidst laughter and anecdotes, your guide will recommend other activities for the rest of your stay in Hermanus, using your local tram pass if you decide to explore further.
