Spain are already through to the 2026 World Cup final after beating France 2–0 in a thoroughly entertaining semi-final. Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute, following a foul on Lamine Yamal, and Pedro Porro doubled the lead in the 58th minute by finishing off a move with Dani Olmo. La Roja controlled the match with discipline, minimised the threat posed by their opponents and kept a clean sheet against one of the tournament’s most potent attacking lines.

The victory takes Spain through to their second World Cup final and cements an impeccable run in the knockout stages, in which they have also beaten Austria, Portugal and Belgium. In the final, they will face Argentina, the reigning champions, who managed to stage a comeback against England in the dying minutes of the other semi-final.

Spain v Argentina will decide the 2026 World Cup title. The match will take place on Sunday 19 July at the New York New Jersey Stadium, also known as MetLife Stadium, in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
