Step by Step

Housed in the imposing National Palace of Montjuïc is the National Art Museum of Catalonia, one of Barcelona’s most important museums, built to mark the 1929 International Exhibition. With your direct-access ticket to the National Art Museum of Catalonia, skip the queues and be among the first to explore its extensive collection for hours on end.

Embark on an uninterrupted journey through a thousand years of Catalan art, from the 10th to the 20th century. You’ll admire the world’s finest collection of Romanesque mural paintings and the most representative artists of Catalan Modernism, such as Gaudí and Ramón Casas. You’ll be able to appreciate Catalan art in all its diversity.

You’ll explore the impressive collections of Renaissance and Baroque paintings and sculptures at your own pace, featuring masterpieces by Canaletto, Titian and Goya. The museum, spread over two floors, is a treasure trove of cultural artefacts, ranging from ancient altars and bas-reliefs to wooden sculptures and even Modernist objects.

As well as the permanent exhibitions, be sure to visit the temporary exhibitions dedicated to the work of contemporary artists or specific art movements. You’ll also be able to admire a collection of photographs, engravings, posters, drawings and over 155,000 coins dating from the 6th century BC to the present day.

To round off your journey through thousands of years of art history, finish your visit by heading up to the roof to enjoy the panoramic view of the city of Barcelona.
