Step by Step
The activity lasts about 3 hours from start to finish. It begins with an explanation of the equipment (lifejacket, regulator, weights and 5 mm wetsuit) and the species that inhabit the reserve: juvenile groupers, dentex, octopus and the extensive posidonia meadows that oxygenate these protected waters.
Once on board the boat, the crew anchors in a sheltered cove. You will practise breathing and emptying your mask on the surface before descending slowly, always holding on to the instructor's arm. The dive is kept shallow (max. 5-6m) to ensure comfort and safety for beginners.
Underwater, you will see walls covered with red algae, scarlet starfish and a myriad of reef fish that approach without fear. The guide points out the most characteristic species and monitors your air consumption at all times; when the bottle is half full, you start the slow ascent with a safety stop.
Back on the surface, the boat returns to the centre. There you can shower and discuss the experience while the staff download the images taken during the dive. At the end, you will receive a certificate of participation, valid as a first step to obtain your Open Water licence.
