Step by Step

Enjoy this visit to the Alfabia Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Mallorca. You’ll have access to the house and the botanical gardens, which are amongst the best-preserved and most beautiful in the Balearic Islands.

Alfabia is a complex comprising a house, garden and orchard, situated in the heart of the Sierra de Tramuntana and recognised as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage site since 2011.

This house boasts a magnificent history reflected in its various architectural features. It was once home to a former Arab governor, which explains why water is one of the main themes you’ll see, with a large fountain inside. It also features Gothic and Baroque elements, incorporated during its last renovation in the 18th century.

But what stands out most is, without a doubt, its botanical garden. It is clearly influenced by English landscape design, with an avenue leading to a courtyard typical of Mallorcan country houses belonging to the upper classes.

You’ll also have the chance to stroll through the so-called Jardinet de la Reina, which was created to mark Queen Isabella II’s stay in Alfabia, featuring a picturesque pond with water lilies and a wide variety of palm trees, including native species such as the palmitos.
