Step by Step
Experience Santiago de Compostela in the depth and detail it deserves thanks to this two-hour private guided tour, perfect for both those who are visiting the city for the first time and those who want to rediscover it with new eyes. This tour combines history, art, legends and everyday corners in a friendly and entertaining way.
You will start with a historical introduction in Praza das Praterías, in front of the horse fountain. From there, you will walk along the four façades of the cathedral and its surrounding squares, where you will learn about its architectural evolution and the symbolism of its elements: from the imposing façade of the Obradoiro to the Holy Door in the Plaza de Quintana.
The route continues along emblematic streets of the old quarter such as Rúa do Franco and Rúa do Vilar, centres of Santiago's gastronomic and commercial life since the Middle Ages. You will also visit the exterior of the monumental Monastery of San Martín Pinario, the second largest in Spain, and you will enter the old Jewish quarter and the place where the Inquisition's autos de fe were held.
Finally, you will pass by the Mercado de Abastos, the second most visited place in the city, and the Porta de Mazarelos, the only vestige of the medieval wall. The walk ends in the Plaza de San Fiz de Solovio, leaving the visitor with a complete and enriched view of the city.
