Step by Step
A visit to the Church of Santos Juanes takes you on a journey through eight centuries of history, from its origins as a mosque to becoming one of the great founding parishes of Valencia after the Christian conquest in the 13th century. Successive fires and reconstructions gave rise to its current Baroque appearance, with a monumental façade and a richly decorated interior that today looks new again after an ambitious restoration project.
With your ticket you will enter the church and walk through its naves at your own pace, accompanied by a multimedia audio guide available in Spanish, English, Italian, French, German and Dutch, among other languages. The explanations combine audio, images, drone videos and recreations that help you understand the meaning of the frescoes, sculptures and the most important architectural elements.
If you choose the Baroque immersive experience option (Barroc), you will also enjoy a 20-minute video mapping that projects a digital recreation of Palomino's lost paintings onto the apses. In this way, you can see what the original decorative programme was like before the fire of 1936 and better understand the result of the recent restoration, which has symbolically recovered these missing areas.
In total, the regular visit with audio guide lasts about 40 minutes, to which you can add the immersive part for approximately 1 hour, in an accessible space, with great attention to detail and right in the historic centre, next to the Central Market and the Lonja de la Seda (Silk Exchange).
