Step by Step
The day begins at London King’s Cross station, where you’ll board the train bound for Edinburgh. During the journey, you can relax, connect to the Wi-Fi and take in the British countryside before arriving in the Scottish capital late in the morning.
Once in the city, you can plan your day as you wish. The hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus ticket is valid for the whole day and allows you to get on and off as many times as you like at its 14 stops. It’s a convenient way to get around the main attractions without having to keep up with an organised group.
Stroll along the Royal Mile, explore the cobbled alleyways of the Old Town or head to Grassmarket, which offers magnificent views of the castle. The route also provides easy access to places such as John Knox’s House and Holyroodhouse Palace, the British monarch’s official residence in Scotland.
The experience includes admission to Edinburgh Castle, a fortress with over 1,000 years of history, built on an ancient volcanic rock. Inside, you can learn about its past as a royal residence, military fortress and prison, as well as see the Stone of Destiny and enjoy panoramic views over the city.
You can travel in standard class – a comfortable option with a reserved seat and Wi-Fi – or choose first class for more space and additional on-board services. Once your free time in Edinburgh is over, you’ll make your own way back to Waverley Station to catch the train back to London.
