Step by Step

As you start your tour next to the SeaCity Museum, your guide introduces you to the industrial context of Southampton, the birthplace of Titanic's shipbuilding. You will walk along the old launching slipways where the giant hulls were assembled and hear how the shipyard revolutionised maritime engineering. A few steps away, you' ll discover the Harland & Wolff office buildings, where the plans that brought the "floating palace" to life were signed.

As you make your way along the quays, you will stop in front of the workers' chapel, a silent witness to the concerns and celebrations of those who built the ship. Your guide will tell human stories: from the opulent first-class passengers to the third-class emigrants dreaming of a new life in America. Every building and street retains traces of May 1912, and you'll discover commemorative plaques and old photographs that give you a glimpse into the spirit of the times.

The tour continues through the Old Town, where the Titanic stopped before its final departure. In the old train station, you will recreate the farewell to the relatives and learn how the ship's mail and luggage system worked. Finally, you will arrive at the boarding docks by the River Itchen, where you will understand the real loading and provisioning conditions and learn about the fate of those who did not know they were living their last hours in port.
