Step by Step

A classic Windjammer cruise is the perfect way to explore Maine's stunning coastline. This approximately 2-hour sail takes you across the 7-mile Frenchman Bay, gliding past the picturesque Porcupine Islands—Bald, Burnt, Long, and Sheep—with countless opportunities for unforgettable photos.

Beyond the breathtaking scenery, keep an eye out for the bay's diverse wildlife, including majestic bald eagles, playful harbor seals, and shy porpoises (small cetaceans similar to dolphins), among other species. This entire area is part of Acadia National Park, a protected landscape featuring pristine lakes, dramatic headlands, and stunning fjords.

The term "Windjammer" refers to a large merchant sailing vessel powered by expansive sails. During the 19th and 20th centuries, these majestic ships crossed the Atlantic carrying grain, lumber, and other cargo, prized for their impressive cargo capacity and the strong profit margins they delivered for shipowners.

Cruises operate rain or shine, even in light fog or drizzle. We recommend bringing a poncho and binoculars. An onboard bar offers drinks for purchase, or you're welcome to bring your own picnic with your favorite food and beverages.
