Step by Step
After checking in at the Cream City Boats booth, your guide explains how to start, turn and brake the electric mini-skateboard - more stable than a kayak and smoke-free. In seconds you'll be gliding under the drawbridges that dot the Milwaukee River, with direct views of the historic brewery silos, art deco City Hall and murals of the Third Ward neighbourhood.
Thanks to the quiet hull, you can get close to the floating brew-pub docks and take pictures of the Bronze Fonz without fighting for space with kayaks or larger cruisers. Feel like socialising? Just ease off the gas and "play tag" with friends in other boats; if you prefer to relax, set the engine to minimum and let the current show off the skyscraper backlights.
Each boat has a cup holder, Bluetooth speaker and dry compartment, perfect for storing your mobile phone and keys while you enjoy your drink (you can carry it from the Tap Yard). The weight limit is 300lb (136kg), the seat is wide and the wrap-around railing adds extra stability - ideal for hen parties, birthdays or just watching the sunset without the crowds. When you return the boat, the staff will suggest riverside beer gardens where you can extend the party.
