Step by Step
Central Park is much more than a park: it is a cultural, historical and natural icon in the heart of New York. With this 2h 30min guided free tour, you'll explore its most photographed landscapes and hidden corners, while discovering its history and curiosities with a local guide.
You'll start your route at the Maine Monument, at the south entrance to the park (Columbus Circle), easily recognisable by the guide's purple umbrella. From there, you'll walk to the historic Seneca Village site, a former African-American community dismantled to build the park.
Continue to Lake Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, stopping at Heaven's Rest Episcopal Church, and admire the exteriors of museums such as the Guggenheim and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You'll also marvel at natural spaces such as the bird sanctuary, The Ramble and the Central Park Zoo.
Other highlights include the magical Bow Bridge, Bethesda Terrace, the Balto Statue and the Literary Walk, all the way to the nostalgic Strawberry Fields, a tribute to John Lennon, right in front of the Dakota Building, where the tour ends.
How does a free tour work?
A free tour is a guided walking tour with no fixed price. At the end of the tour, it is up to you to evaluate the quality of the service with your contribution to the guide.
