The Golden State Warriors franchise — the city's only one — has had a history as successful as it has been itinerant. Founded in Philadelphia, it moved to San Francisco in the 1960s, passed through Daly City and San Jose, moved to Oakland and finally returned to "San Fran" in the autumn of 2019. That's why its name doesn't mention the city it's based in, but rather the nickname for the state of California: Golden State.

Over the years, the Chase Center has been the stage for some of the best players in basketball history: Stephen Curry — the man who revolutionised the team and its mainstay — Klay Thompson — one of the best shooters of all time — Kevin Durant and Chris Mullin.

In the 2025-2026 season, the Warriors continue to be led by Curry and accompanied by young talent and reinforcements ready to keep the team among the favourites in the Western Conference, with highly anticipated match-ups against rivals such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns.

The Golden State Warriors' stadium

The Californian team's home is the Chase Center, a modern sports arena opened in 2019, which hosted its first game in a preseason match against the Los Angeles Lakers. Interestingly, the arena is decorated with contemporary artwork thanks to an agreement with SFMOMA, one of San Francisco's finest museums.

The box office is located at the west entrance of Chase Center, but opening hours are quite limited. It is only open on game days, one hour before doors open. I don't recommend doing this, as queues are usually very long.

As a general rule, if you want to sit in the Chase Center, I would say you should budget just under €100. On average, this is the price of a good ticket that guarantees an excellent view of the court. For the most exciting games (big rivals or playoffs), be prepared to spend a lot more.

As with all other NBA teams, the cheapest Warriors games are those scheduled during the week. Another very important factor is how far in advance you book. Don't wait until the last minute to secure your seat at Chase Center. Finally, take a close look at the opponent.

If you're an NBA die-hard, you'll know that the Warriors' biggest rival is the Cleveland Cavaliers. When the Cavs come to the Golden Gate city, don't expect to find cheap tickets.

The Chase Center is a multi-purpose stadium with a capacity of 18,000 spectators. It cost £1.4 billion to build and is one of the most modern stadiums in the country. When the Warriors are playing, these are the best seats:

• Pepsi Club. This extends from sections 125 to 129. These seats are located directly behind the basket.
• Courtside Club. Located at ground level. There are two types of prices: VIP Courtside seats (in rows AA and BB) and Courtside sections with a number (15, 16, etc.) located just behind the VIP seats. To access them, you will pass through the tunnel, an unforgettable experience.
• Sideline Club, corresponding to sections 101 to 106 and 113 to 118. This area is separated from the lower level and has a bar.

No, the Chase Center is not just a sports arena but a multi-purpose venue that hosts concerts, rallies, events and more. There is always something going on, so guided tours are not organised. However, there are some attractions/activities in the area that are worth seeing/doing:

• Mission Rock, a new neighbourhood on the waterfront. It consists of approximately 1,500 rental homes, 40% of which are dedicated to low- and middle-income families. It is a very interesting project, with small shops and cafés. If you get hungry or feel like a cold beer, head to Mission Rock Resort (817 Terry A Francois Boulevard).
• Oracle Park, home of the Giants.
• City Kayak. A short distance from the Chase Center, you can rent a kayak and explore the waters surrounding the metropolis. The 2025–2026 NBA regular season begins in October 2025 and ends in April 2026. After a few days of rest, the most eagerly awaited part arrives: the playoffs, where the best teams from the Western and Eastern Conferences face each other in three rounds (quarter-finals, semi-finals and final).

As for the final, the champion is decided in a best-of-seven series. This means that, to lift the title, you have to beat your opponent four times. The final game usually takes place in early June.

In American basketball, there are four quarters of play, each lasting 12 minutes. There is a 15-minute break between the second and third quarters. The playing time is real time, and "dead" minutes are not counted. As a result, the total duration can easily reach 2 hours.

It depends on their age. Children under 2 years old can enter the Chase Center free of charge. However, they must be accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket and must share a seat. Where to eat

There's no shortage of places to eat at Chase Center. The arena has several fast food restaurants (Bakesale Betty, Hot Dog Bills, La Corneta, etc.) and some establishments offering healthy food (especially The Green House and Kaiser Permanente Healthy Picks).

If you don't want to arrive too early and would rather enjoy the sea breeze, I recommend the following options:

• Spark, a food truck with outdoor tables. From time to time, there is also live music (601 Mission Bay Boulevard North).
• The Sea Star. Sure, they have food, but the real stars of the show are the beers and cocktails. Personally, I recommend the Buena Vida (mezcal, gin, dry vermouth, pineapple, lime and chilli) and the Czechs & Balances with bourbon, jelinek, pepper and honey (2289 3rd Street).
• Piccino, an Italian restaurant with Californian touches. If you fancy a good pasta dish or a well-baked pizza. The desserts are usually homemade (1001 Minnesota Street).
• The Ramp, a restaurant in the DogPatch neighbourhood. It has a large indoor patio that also hosts parties and concerts. The menu includes eggs Benedict, salads, soups, sandwiches and much more (855 Terry Francois Boulevard).
• Ungrafted, one of the best wine bars in San Francisco (2419 3rd Street)

Where to park

The Chase Center is located in the Mission Bay neighbourhood, on the corner of 3rd and 16th Streets. Public transport is the best option to get there, but if you can't rely on it, you can leave your car in these car parks:

• UCSF Third Street Garage (1650 Third Street)
• Mercedes-Benz Garage (99 Warriors Way)
• Warriors Way Garage (150 Warriors Way)
• Owens Garage (1800 Owens Street)

Please note that overall parking space is quite limited. As for the price, you will have to pay around £50 to leave your car while the event is taking place.

When to go to the stadium?

On game days, it is advisable to arrive at Chase Center well in advance. The Golden State Warriors have a large fan base, and many fans travel to San Francisco from nearby towns such as Oakland and Fremont. To avoid any hassle, it is best to leave early.

The Chase Center has free Wi-Fi. Simply select the network "#XfinityWiFi@ChaseCenter" and log in on the homepage. Alternatively, if you need to access your email to retrieve your e-ticket, you can use the networks available in the establishments surrounding the sports arena. Don't worry, there are plenty of options.

Public transport provides connections between the Golden State Warriors stadium and the rest of the city. To get to your destination, you can use the following options:

• Bus: lines 55, 78x and 79x pass near the sports arena.
• Metro. Take the T Third Street line and get off at Ucsf/Chase Center (16th Street)
• Light rail: the S Shuttle will take you to the arena. The stop is the same as above
