Step by Step
Begin your experience at Cottonwood, where you will be met at the OAC Tours office for check-in 45 minutes before departure time. There you will choose between a single or tandem kayak, receive your life jacket (PFD) and attend a brief safety and instruction session with your certified guide.
You will then board a shuttle that will take you to the banks of the Verde River without the need to carry your equipment. Once in the water, you'll begin a gentle paddle down a scenic 5-kilometre stretch, where you'll encounter small currents and class I-II mini rapids, suitable for all levels.
As you go, your guide will share stories about the local flora and fauna, as well as practical knowledge about kayaking techniques and water safety. The pace is leisurely, perfect for taking photos, relaxing and connecting with the Arizona wilderness.
The tour ends near the starting point, where the shuttle will be waiting to take you back to the base. On the way back, you can buy or rent any items you need (towel, water sandals, sunscreen) before parting with unforgettable memories.
