Step by Step
The National Museum of Archaeology houses one of the most important collections for understanding the evolution of the Greek world from prehistory to late antiquity. The tour spans different periods and allows visitors to see how art, religion and daily life changed over the centuries.
Among the most notable exhibits is the Antikythera Mechanism, an extraordinary artefact discovered in a shipwreck and used to perform astronomical calculations. You can also admire large bronze sculptures, decorated pottery and objects from tombs and sanctuaries.
The visit is self-guided, and you can choose the option that best suits your needs. The standard ticket grants access to the museum and its exhibitions, whilst another option includes a digital museum guide to help you follow the tour with more context about the artefacts and collections.
If you’d like to extend the experience beyond the museum, you can also choose the ticket with a digital guide to Plaka. This guide can be used independently to explore this historic neighbourhood at your own pace, amongst pedestrianised streets, squares and hidden corners at the foot of the Acropolis.
