Step by Step

Join this six-hour Vespa tour of Florence and enjoy the fun of riding a Vespa through the Tuscan countryside. Hop on your vintage Vespa, follow your professional guide to the Tuscan hills and enjoy a delicious Tuscan meal and local wines whilst taking in the beautiful views.

You’ll start your tour in the historic centre of Florence, where you’ll be given some basic instructions and safety information before setting off on this exciting ride. A professional local guide will introduce you to one of the perfectly restored vintage Vespas, and you’ll begin your journey towards the Tuscan hills. Hop on your gearless vintage Vespa, put on your helmet, and follow the tour leader along the riverbank and a tree-lined avenue to a viewpoint.

On your journey towards the Tuscan hills, you’ll pass one of Florence’s finest viewpoints, Michelangelo Square or ‘Piazzale Michelangelo’. From this famous square, you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the city of Florence, as well as one of the three copies of Michelangelo’s David. Stop and capture the city in all its splendour, and take photos of yourself on your Vespa against the backdrop of these beautiful views. In groups of around 10 people, you’ll find the Basilica of ‘San Miniato al Monte’ at one of the highest points in Florence. Admire this 11th-century Florentine Romanesque building as you ride your vintage Vespa.

You’ll take on more challenging routes, winding through narrow alleyways amongst castles and villas such as ‘Pian dei Giullari’ and ‘Poggio Imperiale’, a former grand ducal villa listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After a ride through ancient olive groves and vineyards, you can enjoy a break at the Casa Chianti Classico restaurant, where you’ll be able to sample traditional Italian dishes and local wines. From a terrace with magnificent views, enjoy a delicious Italian meal with a glass of Chianti before heading back into the city.

It was my first time on a Vespa (motorbike in general) but it was not a hindrance at all. They are very safe and the places we rode were also very suitable for adventure.
