Step by Step
Immerse yourself in this free tour of Rome's churches, a journey that reveals how the Papacy drove some of the greatest geniuses of art to create monuments of incomparable beauty. From the grandeur of the Renaissance to the visual games of the Baroque, each temple tells its own story through its architecture and decorations.
You will start at the imposing Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, designed by Michelangelo inside the Baths of Diocletian. Then, you will discover the Church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, home of the Ecstasy of St. Teresa, one of Bernini's most famous sculptures.
The tour continues at the Church of San Bernardo alle Terme and the San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, a jewel of the architect Borromini. Each stop is an opportunity to understand how ancient Rome influenced later styles, uniting past and present in every stone and brushstroke.
The tour concludes at the Church of Sant'Andrea al Quirinale and the Basilica of Santi Vitale e Compagni Martiri in Fovea, two lesser-known but equally impressive sites that allow you to discover a more intimate and authentic side of the Italian capital.
How does a free tour work?
