Step by Step
Delve into Tokyo's ancient past on a guided tour of Asakusa, one of the city's most traditional and charming areas. Accompanied by a certified local guide who is an expert on the history of the neighbourhood, this half-day tour allows you to explore Japan's cultural and spiritual heritage up close.
The itinerary starts at the Sumida River and crosses the Azumabashi Bridge, from where you'll enjoy views of the Tokyo Skytree and the Asahi Breweries headquarters. You will then visit the Asakusa Culture and Sightseeing Center, whose terrace offers a panoramic view of the tour. From there, you will be immersed in a route full of symbolism: Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise Street, Hozomon Gate, Senso-ji Temple and Asakusa Shrine.
During the tour, as well as learning about the coexistence of Buddhism and Shinto at local temples, you will taste traditional snacks such as rice crackers, puffed rice and the famous melon bread, bought by the guide himself. You will also experience typical rituals such as purifying incense or fortune paper at Senso-ji.
The last stop is Denpoin Street, a little known but charming street, where you will find bars, shops and the typical atmosphere of the old entertainment district of Asakusa. This mix of history, spirituality and gastronomy makes the tour an essential experience for those who want to discover the essence of Tokyo.
