Step by Step
After pick-up in Doha or at the airport, an air-conditioned 4×4 will take you to Sealine Beach, the gateway to the desert. At the tyre deflation station you'll have the chance to photograph camels adorned with colourful blankets and put on goggles and a helmet if you wish for the sandboarding activity.
Once the vehicle is ready, the dune bashing begins: the driver climbs ridges up to forty metres high, descends at an angle and zigzags across white sandy plains. Between accelerations, the first panoramic stop is at the Khor Al Adaid, the UNESCO-recognised Inland Sea. Here the guide explains the uniqueness of this salt water arm and serves cold water and Bedouin tea while the dunes change colour in the light.
Then it's time for the star activity: sandboarding. On a safe dune, the driver buries the board lightly, indicates the correct position and in a few seconds you'll be gliding down the slope with the wind in your face. Those who prefer to watch can capture spectacular photos of the fall, which ends on a cushion of fine sand. There are several descents for everyone to practice with confidence.
The return to tarmac offers a smoother ride that allows you to enjoy the lunar landscape.
