Step by Step
Immerse yourself in an unprecedented museum that challenges the established norms of art: the Museum of Forbidden Art, the first in the world dedicated exclusively to works that have been subject to censorship or controversy. Located in the heart of Barcelona's Eixample, this museum offers a unique experience that combines art, social criticism and freedom of expression.
The visit takes place in Casa Garriga Nogués, a modernist building from the early 20th century with an architectural charm worthy of admiration. Here you will find a permanent collection of more than 200 works that have been banned in different parts of the world for political, religious or moral reasons.
Through the digital audio guide, available in three languages (Spanish, Catalan and English), you can learn the stories behind each work and the reasons that led to its censorship. Many of them deal with sensitive issues such as sexuality, religion, politics and human rights, making this a critical and thought-provoking experience.
The artists represented include world-class names such as Andy Warhol, Francisco de Goya, Pablo Picasso, Ai Weiwei, Gustav Klimt, Banksy and Tania Bruguera, among many others. Their creations, exhibited without filters, show the power of art to question and provoke.
This museum is ideal for those who wish to discover art from a more rebellious and committed perspective, far removed from convention. The visit is recommended for visitors over the age of 13, and re-entry is not allowed after the visit.
