Experience Highlights

Venture into Blue Springs State Park, winter home to one of Florida's largest manatee colonies, and paddle in crystal-clear waters surrounded by lush vegetation. Under the tutelage of a naturalist guide, you'll learn about the biology of these gentle giants and the richness of an ecosystem teeming with turtles, otters and birds of prey.

The adventure begins at a launch ramp inside the park (the exact spot is on your booking voucher). After a brief safety briefing, you'll be equipped with kayak, paddle and lifejacket for a relaxed 4-hour tour, suitable for beginners: you just need to know how to swim and be keen to enjoy yourself.

  • Book your place: small groups, maximum 14 people.
  • Experience a unique encounter with manatees in their natural habitat.
  • Learn from experts: live commentary (English) on flora and fauna

Step by Step

After meeting your guide and brushing up on the basics of paddling, you will glide through the warm water springs that attract manatees every winter. Within minutes, their silhouette is silhouetted under your kayak as your guide explains their migratory cycle and how to observe them without disturbing them.

The route continues along the Snake River, a cypress-lined channel where otters, young alligators and ospreys are often spotted. The pace is leisurely, with stops to take photos and hear facts about the riparian vegetation.

Thanks to the small group size, each participant receives personalised advice on paddling technique and the best angles for photographing wildlife. The guide points out natural platforms where manatees emerge to breathe and answers all your questions about life in the springs.

On the way back to the starting point, a short wooden walkway offers a final perspective from the mainland. Those who wish can stay in the park after the activity to picnic or walk along marked trails.

To make the most of the experience, bring a swimming costume, towel, sunscreen and a waterproof camera. Please note that there are no toilets at the ramp; plan a stop along the way.
