Step by Step

Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya ("the smoke that thunders"), is one of the most impressive waterfalls on the planet. On this 2 to 3 hour guided tour, we depart directly from Livingstone and head into the surrounding World Heritage National Park.

Your tour begins with a pick-up from your accommodation and a comfortable transfer to the main entrance. On the way, your English-speaking guide will give you a geological background on how the Zambezi River rushed through the basalt rock, creating this series of rapids and waterfalls.

At the viewpoint, you will walk along safe paths and walkways that run along the length of the canyon. From different angles you will be able to view the immense curtain of water and its incessant column of mist. Your guide will tell you interesting facts about the local flora and fauna, from monkeys peering over the banks to species of birds nesting near the roar of the water.

The experience becomes even more enriching when you reach the "boiling point", the place where the river disappears into the gorge. Here you will understand why it is associated with legends and why it was considered sacred by the native peoples.

Finally, you will return with your guide to your hotel or lodge, full of photographs and anecdotes, safe in the knowledge that you have experienced one of the most powerful moments of your trip to Zambia.
