Step by Step
When you arrive at the meeting point, a coachman in a fur jacket and lined hat welcomes you and helps you into the upholstered sleigh, where woollen blankets and padded seats await. Oil lanterns are lit and the gentle whinnying of the Percheron horses marks the start of the ride.
The trail meanders through snow-laden fir trees and glimpses of Lake Tremblant, which has become a frozen mirror. The coachman levels the pace so that you can spot deer tracks and, with a little luck, see a white owl hoot under the moon.
Halfway through the journey, the sleigh stops by a campfire in a sheltered clearing. Mugs of steaming hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows replenish your strength as your guide recounts tales of Algonquin lore and the adventures of early French explorers. With warm hands and a happy heart, you resume your seat and the return trip becomes a living tableau: rattles, steamy breath and the illuminated silhouette of the mountain in the distance.
