Step by Step

The adventure starts with the delivery of kayak, paddle, inflatable waistcoat and waterproof bag at the dock of the Villas Rubin Resort, a five-minute walk from the reception. After a brief technical and safety briefing, you start paddling south between small islands covered with holm oaks and stone pines.

After 40 minutes you reach Cala Biondi, where the guide hands out masks and snorkels for your first snorkelling session: shoals of sea bream and starfish move among the algae-covered rocks. Back in the kayaks, the trip continues to the famous Red Island (Crveni Otok), dominated by an ancient Franciscan monastery and almost unreal turquoise waters.

The guide moors the boats and leaves you an hour at leisure: time to wander the shady paths, have an ice cream on the hotel terrace or just lie on the beach. Before setting sail back, a small picnic is served: cold water, apple juice and seasonal fruit to recharge your batteries.

The final stretch covers a different angle of the archipelago; with a bit of luck you will see cormorants drying their wings on the stone steps of the island of San Giovanni. Back at the dock, the team collects the underwater photos taken during the day and sends them to you at no extra cost.

The tour ends where it began, with an open-air shower and the option to stay on the resort's beach to extend the day in the Istrian sun.
