Step by Step

Immerse yourself in the Perlan Museum, located inside Reykjavík's iconic hot water tanks, and take a journey into the heart of Iceland's glaciers. Thanks to 350 tonnes of ice and snow, you can walk through more than 100 metres of icy tunnels and feel the crunch beneath your feet as the temperature drops to -10°C.

As you walk through the "Wonders of Iceland" Exhibition, you will learn how glaciers form and evolve, and discover the endangered ecosystems that depend on them. Interactive panels and models will show you the crucial role of these ice blocks in the ecological balance of the island.

Don't miss the planetarium, installed in one of the reservoirs. There you will virtually fly through the Solar System, shoot at distant stars and watch the Northern Lights, all in a state-of-the-art dome that will make you feel like you are touching the sky.

At the end of your glacier dive, take the lift up to the 360° observation deck. From its windows, you'll get unparalleled views of Snæfellsjökull, Iceland's most famous glacier, as well as the Reykjavík skyline and the forests of Öskjuhlíð Hill.

Complete your experience by reliving every moment in the museum's café and souvenir shop, where you can take home a piece of this icy adventure.

I liked that they explain the impact on ecosystems. And then auroras in a dome: wow.

The 360° viewpoint is windy; wear a jacket. The rest of it, all in ten.

Everything is well signposted and the staff offers ponchos for the cave. A rounded experience.
