Step by Step
This tour of Naples lasts approximately three and a half hours and is designed for small groups. To avoid overexertion on the uphill sections and to make good progress, the tour is conducted on electric bikes. The pedal assistance means you can tackle the route without needing to be an experienced cyclist. A local guide will accompany you along the route past major monuments, including:
- Maschio Angioino – Also known as Castel Nuovo, this is a medieval fortress and one of the city’s undisputed landmarks. It was built in the 13th century at the behest of Charles I of Anjou, who ascended the throne of Sicily and moved the capital to Naples.
- Piazza Plebiscito – Naples’ largest and most iconic public square. It owes its name to the plebiscite of 21 October 1860, which decreed the annexation of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies to the Kingdom of Italy. The Royal Palace and other buildings of great historical interest are situated around its perimeter.
- Galleria Umberto I – A splendid iron and glass structure right in the heart of the historic centre. It was built at the end of the 19th century in just three years and quickly became the social hub of Naples,
- Castel dell’Ovo – A medieval fortress just a stone’s throw from the sea. It was built to defend the city from barbarian attacks.
- Lungomare Via Caracciolo – The city’s most beautiful seafront promenade. It has been pedestrianised for some years now and is home to numerous bars, restaurants and pizzerias.
- Parco Naturale Virgiliano – A scenic green space in the elegant Posillipo neighbourhood. It covers an area of around 90,000 m² and overlooks the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida, the historic centre of Naples and the Sorrento Peninsula.
- Bagnoli – A former industrial neighbourhood that has been revitalised thanks to the Città della Scienza museum. One of its most iconic landmarks is the old quay once used by the steel industry.
The tour usually takes place in the morning and is suitable for most people. Those travelling with children can make use of the child seats and enjoy the tour with the youngest members of the family.
